Our paper past now archived for the future in Warwick!

archiveYou’ll find the Tourism Concern Archive in Warwick University’s Modern Records Centre. Tourism Concern was born twenty five years ago into a pre-digital era. Everything we produced then – newsletters, magazines, pamphlets, brochures, books – was on paper. Tourism Concern now functions almost completely in a digital environment, but a paper trail of its past has survived and has now been archived for members, campaigners and researchers to consult.

Warwick University’s Modern Records Centre is home to the archive collections of many different pressure groups. Tourism Concern’s first newsletters, issues of its long running magazine In Focus, press cuttings, annual reports and all its varied publications output are there, along with papers and documents relating to how and why Tourism Concern was founded.

The archive contents have not yet been catalogued online by the MRC, but personal visitors can access them free of charge.

There are still some gaps to fill. So if you’re a longstanding member willing to donate any copies of In Focus, other publications or photographs, please contact Alison Stancliffe who set up the archive.
