Oasis Overland was started in 1997 by two friends with a real passion for travel. We offer small group overland adventure travel in Africa, South America and Central Asia, in our purpose built expedition vehicles and regional explorer trips in Egypt, Morocco, Peru and Bolivia.
Our overland adventure trips are fully participative camping trips, with travellers taking turns with cooking, shopping at local markets, collecting water etc . As we are travelling under own steam we manage to get to places off the main tourist trail.
Our regional explorer trips make use of small locally run hostels/ guest houses and restaurants. The expertise and knowledge of local guides means that these trips really allow our travellers the opportunity to immerse themselves in local culture and communities.
Since our beginnings we have always aimed to make our trips as responsible as possible and to put as much of our trip costs as possible back into local communities. We try to support small local businesses and enterprises across our area of operation and over the years have watched and supported small local operators grow alongside us. We have built lasting relationships with numerous small operators and count them as our friends.
We try also to support local communities/projects that would not normally benefit from the tourist dollar- these include a Children’s Home in Zimbabwe and a school for Sudanese refugee children in Egypt. We provide financial assistance to these and, in the case of the Children’s Home, we use our vehicles and staff to take the children out on an annual basis. This is a real highlight, not only for the children but for our staff also!
