Save water and promote social sustainability

As a hotel or travel company, taking steps to conserve water and understand your business impacts on the surrounding community makes business sense on several levels.
Not only will it save you money and help to protect the environmental sustainability of the destination on which your business depends, it can promote more positive relations with local people who share the same water supply.
If their water access and quality is being compromised by hotels and resorts taking more than their fair share, tensions and resentment may arise.
This could threaten the positive holiday experience of your guests.
Water for all - the business case for human rights in tourism
Access to freshwater is a fundamental human right recognised by the United Nations.
So as well as promoting more positive community relations, businesses (including in the tourism sector) have a responsibility to respect this right, and can play an important role in ensuring their activities do not have adverse impacts on local people.
