Strategic plan
We believe Tourism Concern has a crucial role to play in promoting and developing forms of tourism that provide meaningful benefits to people in local destination communities. Equally important is our role in exposing and campaigning against tourism’s worst human rights abuses.
We are a unique organisation. No other NGO has campaigned so tirelessly on the issues around tourism’s exploitative practices.
Since our formation in 1989, we have seen and been a part of shaping the changing landscape of the tourism industry and market. When challenging people about the impacts of their holidays their reaction has begun to change from one of disbelief to one of concern. There is growing awareness about the impacts of tourism and about the power and need for ethical consumerism. Now, more than ever,
there is an overwhelming need to make meaningful change and for alternatives that empower and not exploit.
