What we do
Tourism Concern campaigns against exploitation in tourism and for fairly traded and ethical forms of tourism.
Unregulated tourism development is continuing to devastate environments, degrade cultures and destroy traditional livelihoods. We work to address these in our projects and campaigns as well as through the production of reports, research and educational resources.
The issues
Displacement, exploitation, environmental damage- Find out about all the key issues in our quick interactive guide.
Projects
We support the work of NGO’s and communities who are finding their own solutions for tourism related poverty and exploitation.
Campaigns
Campaigning is our core activity. We respond to requests for help from individuals, communities and groups from all over the world who are challenging the damage to their interests caused by the development of tourism.
Ethical Travel Guide
Thousands of grass roots tourism initiatives all over the world struggle to tell tourists they exist. Very few have the resources or skills to market themselves in an industry dominated by multinational companies. Tourism Concern's The Ethical Travel Guide is a challenge to the stranglehold that western based companies have over the distribution networks of the tourism industry.
Achievements
Tourism Concern’s campaigning efforts and programme activities have brought about positive change and meaningful solutions at a variety of levels.
