New photography exhibition by Tourism ConcernDestination Tsunami: Stories and Struggles from India’s southern coast

It is over five years since the 2004 tsunami devastated the southern Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. This exhibition conveys the hardships endured by coastal communities as they attempt to withstand the multiple pressures of rapid tourism development promoted by powerful developers and government policies.

Put people firstTourism Concern has launched a new hard-hitting report, Putting Tourism to Rights, demanding action to end human rights violations in tourism.

We are calling on the UK Government and tourism industry to ensure that the rights of local people in tourism destinations are respected in line with international law. Human rights must be protected if tourism is to contribute to sustainable development and poverty reduction.
